Helicopter WiFi: Dual-Function WLAN & Mobile Data Router

Certified in-cabin connectivity for the AW139

AW139 WiFi system is a dual-function WLAN and mobile-data router that gives mission systems, tablets and crew devices a reliable network connection in the air.

The system combines an onboard WLAN with 3G/4G LTE mobile data in a single certified router, giving the cabin a dependable, self-contained network wherever the aircraft operates.

How it works The system pairs a 2.4 GHz cabin WLAN — WPA2-PSK encrypted with a hidden SSID — with 3G/4G LTE mobile data through external antennas: a dedicated mobile-data antenna and a cabin WLAN antenna. It runs on 28 VDC via a cockpit switch, so the crew can bring the network up or down as the mission requires. At only 0.58 kg (1.27 lb) the router adds negligible weight, and the design leaves room for future upgrade options.
